Macbook Air Paint Job
Apple offers a wide selection of options when it comes to the MacBook line. As of 2020, this includes the 13-inch MacBook Pro, 16-inch MacBook Pro, and 13-inch MacBook Air. As a general rule. In fact, there’s a hidden paint program on your Mac computer that has been sitting right under your nose this whole time, and a recent pose will show you how easy it is to find. MacBook Air packs heavy-duty performance into just 2.8 pounds. The available quad-core Intel Core i7 processor delivers up to 2x faster CPU performance 1 and up to 80 percent faster graphics performance, 4 to help you power through everything from browsing the web to playing games to editing video. Up to 16GB of high-performance 3733MHz memory lets you work seamlessly even with multiple apps open. I think finding a matching paint is eminently possible. I was looking for a paint for my Canon 6D where is has usage marks and I was able to find a model making paint. I’ve now had to “adjust” the bottom of edge of a MacBook Pro lid and left some divots I’d like to fill and disguise.
Although many electronics companies (especially Apple) put a lot of thought into the design of their products, the color choices tend to be fairly limited, or even nonexistent. Luckily, a company called ColorWare offers the ability to customize your electronics, including mobile phones, iPhones, and MacBooks. The company has now expanded its customization offerings to include the MacBook Air, so if the silver-and-black theme isn't doing it, you can give your MacBook Air a makeover.
There are two ways to get a new-look Air. First of all, you can send the company your existing machine, and ColorWare will take it apart, paint it, and send it back to you in three or four weeks. You can also choose to buy an Air directly from ColorWare, in which case the brand-new machine will arrive on your doorstep already painted. There are a total of 35 colors to choose from, and you can mix and match different colors on different parts of the machine (including the palm rest, logo, bottom, and hinges). If you're curious, that sexy MacBook Air in the Ars Technica colors is clad in 'Blaze' and 'Candy Apple.'
The big question, of course, is 'how much does it cost?' Getting your MacBook Air painted a single color will cost you $500 if you send the machine in to ColorWare, but adds an additional $700 to the price if you buy the machine new from the company. Custom paint jobs will run you a bit more, with each different piece costing between $20 and $50. If you're counting, that brings the SSD Air up to nearly $4000 (or more, if you customize all the parts). But hey, you can make your laptop look like an F1 car, so maybe the cost is worth it.
Your Mac provides several tools to help you identify it. The simplest is About This Mac, available by choosing About This Mac from the Apple () menu in the upper-left corner of your screen. The other is the System Information app. Learn how to use these tools to identify your Mac.
If you don’t have your Mac or it doesn’t start up, use one of these solutions instead:
- Find the serial number printed on the underside of your Mac, near the regulatory markings. It’s also on the original packaging, next to a barcode label. You can then enter that serial number on the Check Coverage page to find your model.
- The original packaging might also show an Apple part number, such as MQD32xx/A (“xx” is a variable that differs by country or region). You can match the Apple part number to one in the list below to find your model.
